Mother Angel - Art

Alberto Agraso - Art of the Spirit
"Mother Angel"
When Alberto told me the dream that he had with his mother a few nights ago, I asked him to please draw it so that I could have that image of her in my mind, and not of her in the residence where she now lives.

His mom has been like a second mother to me, an angel in her own way, bringing love and kindness into our lives... and I know she is doing so where she is right now.

I'm grateful for this...

Power

As we approach the birthday of one of the great modern prophets of peace, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I am especially drawn to this phrase:

"Let no man pull you low enough to hate him."

Because in the moment they do, YOU have lost your power:

Your power to choose what to think.

Your power to choose what to believe.

Your power to choose how to act.

Your power to stand in the grace of who you are.

Your power to choose love, especially for those who demonstrate the lack of it.

Your power to choose understanding, even while others act from ignorance.

Your power to choose unity, even while the words of others create separation.

Your power to choose to listen with your heart, to hear the unspoken words and glimpse the wounds desperate to heal.

No one can control how you feel, what you think, and how you respond. That is the ultimate power you, and we, all possess.

My choice is clear. Despite all the outer noise and distractions, now more than ever, I stand for love.

And I especially weigh it down like an anchor in the hearts of those – my brothers and sisters on this journey – who cannot yet do it for themselves, and who have temporarily forgotten who they are.

May peace prevail in the hearts of all. 🙏💞

(r)Evolutions

Mony Dojeiji - on the path
Watching the news these days is not for the faint of heart. The speed and complexity of events are dizzying. We seem to be riding a wave of emotions that never quite reaches shore, in a world that seems to be fraying at the seams.

It’s impossible to tune out completely, unless you isolate yourself from the world. Although important to do, I also believe we’re here to engage with the world in a meaningful way rather than try to escape it.

The question always becomes: what can I possibly do?

When I walked to Jerusalem, I was DOING something, responding to a situation (9/11) that left me feeling vulnerable and afraid. My pilgrimage for peace would be my contribution to the forces and energies of peace.

But I certainly wasn’t a person at peace.

I was full of judgments. I had so many expectations. So many rigid ideas of right and wrong, my way or no way. (Just ask Alberto! LOL) So many fears. So much anger at what I perceived as injustices in the world and those perpetrating it.

My big dream when I arrived in Jerusalem was to spark a massive march for peace, bring together people from all faiths and religions, Israelis and Palestinians, and whoever else wanted to join us in a march demanding peace in the Holy Land. I even wanted to live there, working for the UN or some NGO dedicated to peace.

It certainly didn’t work out that way.

Although my intentions were pure – creating peace – my heart was fractured. Conflicted. Bitter. In pain.

How could such a heart inspire peace in another?

What kind of peace would this heart be creating?

I was so focused on outer action, though, that I didn’t see this right away. The journey and its myriad experiences revealed these – and many more – truths to me, along with what was perhaps the most difficult to accept:

There is nothing out there.

It is ALL inside of you, revealing itself to you so that you may acknowledge it, accept it and liberate it.

The priest that I judged and criticized for turning us away was the loving opportunity to heal the fears, expectations and judgments within me.

The woman who brought me to tears because I couldn’t live up to her expectations of how a good pilgrim should behave was the loving opportunity to heal the wounded child within me.

The few people who mocked or dismissed my pilgrimage were the loving opportunity to stand confidently in my truth and to speak it with open heart, even as it was still forming within me.

The days and nights of anxiety and uncertainty when we didn’t know if we would have a roof over our heads were the loving opportunity to have faith in what we couldn’t see, and to know that a Great Love is always at work.

This was the true journey. The transformation that was taking place. So that Peace and Love would find a home within me. And inspire my action in the world.

THAT is the inner (r)evolution.

And the source of all outer (r)evolutions.

Gandhi. Martin Luther King. Marianne Williamson. They all understood this when they called for a revolution of Love.

And every revolution needs its revolutionaries:

Revolutionaries of Love,

Dissolving the bitterness and barriers within, so that they may be dissolved without.

When our inner walls crumble, the outer walls cannot help but follow suit.

~Mony 💖🙏

The World needs more HEART-fullness

The world needs more heart-fullness.

Hearts bursting with love, compassion, brotherhood;

Which elevate the mind to its fullness;

Lead it to its sacred destination:

The Mind of God.

Where only inspiration exists;

All-possibility;

The one most perfect for you at this moment;

To receive;

Give thanks for;

And put into action.

In service to the world.

Let Love raise your every thought to its highest expression. 🙏💝

Laying Down the Cross

Today, Alberto and I went for a walk on the path near our home. It had become a ritual to visit a certain bench along the way but, for some reason today, I didn't feel like going.

More accurately, something was telling me to stay behind and let Alberto go alone.

We parted ways on the bridge, agreeing to meet up shortly.

As you can see from the picture, there's a concrete 'ledge' on either side of the bridge. As soon as I stepped onto one side - where the waters run rapidly - a fire truck and ambulance siren began to wail. Loudly. I stopped and waited, understanding this was not the way, for whatever reason.

I crossed the bridge to the other side. Here, the water appeared to be at a standstill, almost stagnant, but as I looked more closely, I noticed that the waters were indeed flowing.

"How true is that," I thought. "The water always knows where it's going. And, inevitably, finds itself merging into more infinite waters. There's wisdom in that flow, and I surrender myself to it."

I stayed for a while longer, appreciating the flow, then turned to leave. At that moment, my eyes caught sight of emerald-coloured beads hanging on the branch beside me.

A rosary.

Without the cross.

Mary holding an infant Jesus on one side.

On the other side, an adult Jesus holding a chalice, from which a heart can be seen and what looks like a fountain coming out of that chalice.

As I held the beads in my hand, I understood the message:

Love. The fountain of life. Abundant. Ever-flowing. Inexhaustible. It abides in the heart of (wo)mankind. It's what nourishes and blesses one, and all. The Holy Grail.

The cross of expectations, obligations, fears, limitations, judgments...all of it, laid down. Transformed by Love into wisdom, understanding, peace.

We all carry one form of cross or another in our lives. The invitation is always there to lay it down. To let Love liberate it so that you may stand - confidently, authentically - as the fully-realized child of the Divine that you are.

Love always, 🙏💕

What can I Do to Support an Arising Consciousness?

What can I do to support this arising consciousness of Love in our politics, our economics, our world, ourselves?
It’s a question I ask myself often, especially as we here in Canada and the U.S. enter an election season where it’s easy to be swayed by all the emotional turbulence. The response, without fail, is usually:
Stop judging!
Stop judging the person. The situation. The emotions they evoke in you. Your thoughts.
Better yet, stay in a field of Love, and extend that field out to people you strongly disagree with, and situations that are beyond your control.
Oh, is that all?! LOL
Sure, it’s easy to extend Love in meditation or prayer, but how do you do that when interacting with the world?
That is, by far, the greatest challenge of my spiritual journey. It’s also the most rewarding when I manage to do it, even for a few moments.
I don’t have an easy answer, but I do have one practice that I consistently go to that keeps me anchored in Love.
As I go about my day, in the back of my mind, I have trained myself to repeat the words:
THANK YOU. I LOVE YOU.
Over and over and over again.
It’s like a non-stop record. I repeat both phrases – or just one – upon waking, in the shower, when I’m driving, before I go into a meeting, before I speak or write. I especially repeat them before, during and after the news!
Who am I saying them to? No one. And every one!
To myself. To the Universal Consciousness. To my family. Passersby. The cashier. The barista. The coffee. The trees. The sun. The sky. The rain. The earth. My feet. My body. My eyes. The sidewalk. The room. The buildings. The city. The country. The car. The person who cuts me off. The helpers and the builders. The deniers and the dividers. The lovers and the haters. The emotions (anger, fear, sadness, disbelief) that are still there even as I write these words. The thoughts of futility that still interject themselves.
To ALL of it, I say:
THANK YOU. I LOVE YOU.
Along with deep breathing, these words bring me a sense of deep calm: mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. A sense that all is OK. When I do speak, I feel I am speaking from a place of greater inspiration. When I do act, it feels like I’m doing exactly what I need to do in that moment. I feel less rushed, more in flow, more connected to that field of Love and Wisdom, confident that it’s doing its thing through me and that all is Perfect.
Yes, I still get angry. I still lose my patience. I still judge. But I also get back to that field of Love a lot more quickly than I ever used to.
If each one of us was able to do this, imagine the transformations that would take place within us: in our minds, hearts and spirits. Imagine how those ripples of energy would change our world.
May these words serve you in your journeys. I’d love to hear what you do to also stay in consciousness.
Shine on!

Marianne Williamson - A Politics of Love

It’s very easy to speak your full spiritual truth with people who understand you.

It’s a whole other game completely to stand in the fullness of that truth before the world, naked, before those who do not.

To speak about the Way of Love in perhaps the most divisive of arenas: politics.

I’ve read many of Marianne Williamson’s books, and believe in the message she shares. The fact that she was able to articulate that message – and that she got to that stage at all – speaks to the awakening of that consciousness that is taking root in our world.

I also see it as a testament to the consistent inner work that I – and millions around the world – are doing of cleaning up and transforming the beliefs, programs, traumas, paradigms and FEARS deeply entrenched in my own psyche; of showing up every day, every moment, and facing those fears with LOVE; standing steadfastly in that Love so that moments like Marianne on that stage can reveal themselves to me/us.

She is an outer manifestation of the inner work (meditations, peace walks, yoga, etc.) that each of us is consistently doing, day in day out, in the stillness and anonymity of our own hearts.

I take great courage from her example; to not only continue the inner work myself, but to (in my own way) articulate what it means to walk the Way of Love, and to walk it fully.

Mony 💜

P.S. If interested, this is a 3-minute clip of her speaking from the Democratic Debates yesterday.

Being in Conscious Relationship

Relationship is a sacred gift, and opportunity. Beyond love and companionship, a partner in a conscious relationship with you can unlock doors to healing and spiritual growth unlike any other.

I met Alberto in Finisterre, when we had each walked our Caminos alone. I already had the idea to walk from Rome to Jerusalem, again alone. Imagine my surprise when we ran into each other, three months later, as I was on my way to Rome! Our relationship began then, as pilgrims sharing the path, then as companions, friends, lovers and today, parents.

In this talk at Unity Spiritual Centre Ottawa, we share the story of the journey of that relationship, and what we have learned walking together in our seventeen-year relationship .

Thanks for liking and sharing!

Reflections on Mental Health

Today, with attention on mental health, I offer these words that came to me during my morning meditation. May they serve you in your personal journeys of love and expansion.

~Mony <3

====

"You come seeking clarity of mind, when in reality what is troubled is the heart.

Your beautiful mind will always seek to make sense of deep truths that the heart captures first, understands first; and that the mind tries to interpret and give meaning to.

My invitation to you is to drop your attention to your heart, and as you so do, imagine your mind coming along for the ride.
Imagine your thoughts, your ideas, your concepts – all that you believe about who you are – dropping into your heart. Let them rest there.

Now look to your body. Where do you feel sadness? Where do you feel anxiety, fear, not-isolation, loneliness? Place your attention there, and imagine them all moving to your heart.

Why? Because the Highest Intelligence resides in your heart: the answers to all your questions, the peace you long for, the shelter from your emotional and mental storms.

Let your heart be the refuge for all your pain and suffering.

Breathe. Deeply. Fully.

On the breath, we infuse life to sustain you, love to nourish you, light to heal you.

Let your exhale be the confirmation that you have received life, love, light.

Keep breathing into your heart. Keep imagining your thoughts and your sorrows flowing like a river into a pool of infinite, ever-expanding light within you.

In this pool of light that continues to expand with every breath, all is held. All is forgiven. All is made right. All is transformed into wisdom and understanding, which you will now take as nourishment for your life journey ahead.

With every breath, the light in your heart expands, taking in even more thoughts and feelings. It’s a super-highway conducting (attracting) the pain and less-than thinking unto itself, transforming it into wisdom, transforming it into more light. You can’t help but grow in light with every breath that you take.

Do this for yourself. Breathe your thoughts and feelings into your heart. Over and again.

Do this for another. Breathe the light for those who at this moment can’t do it for themselves. Imagine it growing inside their hearts in the same manner it has grown in yours. Imagine the super-highway of light conducting all the sorrows and less-than thoughts into this magnificent pool of light.

And while your mind still clamours for clarity, we say to you that the journey from mindfulness to heartfulness is the greatest journey you will ever undertake. Your mind, we repeat, can only interpret what the heart knows as truth. As you expand your heart, you expand your mind (it becomes more elastic) and are now able to receive universal truths…which your expanded mind can now interpret from a more expanded perspective. Water cannot flow through a closed tube.

May these words bring you peace. We hold you in the warmest of embraces.

Shine On!

Mony Dojeiji
Those of you on this path of awakening with me know that the journey is not usually a straight line.

Often, what you thought was fully healed comes back under a different guise to confound you. The fear and hurt that you were confident had been brought back to love surprise you with their ferocity and persistence.

If we - as individuals - find our journey to wholeness arduous, imagine what it must be like for a family, a community, a nation.

So, we keep on keeping on, putting one step in front of the other, celebrating the positives and the gains, strengthening the bridges to the heart, pouring love into every crack, baring our souls to the world. We walk on. We shine on.

It's a good day to be alive...

Making Peace - the way of Ho'oponopono

For those of us on the path of unfolding Spirit, it may at times feel as if the world of Spirit and the world we witness are indeed worlds apart. The divide appears to be expanding, with few means of bridging or reconciling that separation.

How can we live in the world, and love it?

In this talk at Unity Spiritual Centre Ottawa, I share some thoughts on how to do just that.

It all begins within.

Angels Among Us

Today, we celebrated the arrival of our latest tri-language children's book "MY FAMILY AND I - MA FAMILLE ET MOI - MI FAMILIA Y YO", with a touching experience.

From the moment we were writing this book, we knew we had something special, that we were somehow bringing a piece of the eternal into our everyday.

This morning, I had a dream. I am standing in our kitchen beside my husband Alberto, who was washing some dishes in the sink. Above the sink is a large window overlooking our back yard. As we speak, I see reflected in the window (beside Alberto) the image of an older man, with a round face receding hairline. He's dressed in a grey suit with light checks, and is looking down at a pair of dark-rimmed glasses that he's holding in his hands, and wiping with a cloth. He looks at me and smiles with such tenderness and kindness.

I know it's Alberto's dad, Rafael, even though I never met him. He passed a few days after Alberto and I began walking together to Jerusalem. I'm in tears as I share the dream with Alberto, who confirms that his father had a grey, checked suit that he wore for special occasions and that he wore dark-rimmed glasses.

He's also one of the main characters in the book that we received today; perhaps in his own way letting us know that he is near, as are all our loved ones, and that we are never alone.

I'm Doing the Best I Can

What can I do?

This was a question that was asked often during the Indigenous Youth conference, and was answered beautifully by this story from keynote speaker Dr. Dawn Lavell-Harvard:

A huge forest was being consumed by fire. All the animals were transfixed, watching the forest burning, and feeling overwhelmed and powerless.

Except the little hummingbird.

It flew to the nearest stream, took a drop of water, put it on the fire, and went back for more, over and again, as fast as it could.

In the meantime, larger animals such as the elephants with trunks that could bring much more water, simply stood there watching, also feeling helpless. And they said to the hummingbird,

"This fire is too big. You are too small. Your wings are tiny and your beak can barely hold a drop of water at a time. It's even evaporating before it gets to the fire."

Without missing a beat, the hummingbird responded,

"I am doing the best I can."

This obviously applies to any situation in life that makes us feel overwhelmed or helpless.

So, wherever you are, be that single drop of water that quenches even the tiniest part of that raging fire.

Be the first to listen with an open heart and mind.

Be the one who makes amends.

Be the bringer of laughter and joy.

Be the carrier of goodwill and compassion.

Be the hand that reaches out.

Be the bridge-builder.

Be the love and peace you wish to see in the world.

Reaching Indigenous Youth Conference

Driving home tonight, my heart felt both heavy and hopeful.

I was at an all-day conference called “Reaching Indigenous Youth”, attended by Elders, Wisdom Keepers, MPs, Senators and so many individuals and organizations working for peace and reconciliation on all levels.

Words like genocide and apartheid are difficult to hear and evoke images of far-away lands, of peoples other than your own. To learn about what this country did to its indigenous population over the centuries - and to experience it through an activity called the "blanket exercise" - left me feeling shaken, outraged, ashamed.

It would’ve been easy to stay there, but the voices of the builders gave me hope.

Talk of healing of the Spirit lifted me.

Aspirations to a higher consciousness, where Love is the foundation of how we move forward together, united, as brothers and sisters sharing this land… made my heart sing.

There is much to be done to rebuild the broken trust, and the journey, as in any relationship, is fraught with perils…but at least we are on the path, walking together, moving into action – and that’s what matters.

Let there be reconciliation in the land, and let it begin within my own heart.

Courage over Fear

It is in these moments of despair and outrage that I believe we are called to choose from the deepest place of love within us.

And that requires courage…

To stand for what we believe, unswayed by all that we see.

To declare another way, one that begins with me.

To BE the helpers, the builders, the change-makers, the way-showers, the light-workers.

Let it begin with me.

Pointing the Way

I’ve recently been introduced to the work and magnificence that was Nikola Tesla. A man truly ahead of his time. This particular quote got me thinking…

Of course, the comments don’t apply to scientists only, but to any and all who choose a vision for themselves and the world that doesn’t fit into the mainstream.

There will always be those tweaking the systems and structures we hold dear; and then there will be those who upend them altogether to show another way.

Many of you reading this, I know, consider yourselves to be light-workers, bringing a vision of our world and a consciousness that is grounded in love and Oneness. I count myself among them. Sometimes, it’s easy to feel that we can’t change anything because the traditional, often fear-based, systems appear too strongly entrenched.

This quote from Tesla, however, breathed new life into me.

Our work is to show the way. Paint a vision of how we can be, and how our societies can be. It may sound Utopian, but we are here for no less a task than to mark a path.

I believe the technology exists today to eradicate poverty, hunger, illness. Free energy, free WIFI, free communications, free education, universal basic income, the right to contribute your highest without worrying about economic contribution… by today’s models, all these are considered utopian and unattainable.

But just because today’s models don’t support these ideas doesn’t invalidate them. It doesn't mean we give up.

Enter the dreamers, the artists, the poets, the healers, the visionaries, the misfits, the compassionate ones, the quantum physicists, and all those who dwell in the realm of possibility.

Your ideas may not be taken up today, but no matter. Our sacred task as souls on a journey of exploration and expansion is to lay down the foundation anyways for those to come, and point the way.

Ever onwards. <3
