FREE AUDIOBOOK - Walking for Peace, an inner journey

Walking for Peace, an inner journey

Today, I begin reading our book WALKING FOR PEACE, AN INNER JOURNEY.

Chapter by chapter I will read, and post it all in the YouTube folder (below). Here is the full Playlist.

There is a power in speaking words out loud, in speaking the stories rather than simply reading them.

I hope you will take this journey with me, and enjoy these stories.

All my best,

Mony

Reflecting on "Moving Forward" and the U.S. Elections

Today, as I was walking in the forest, reflecting on this unforgettable day, I began to think about laying down our burdens, and all the heaviness, so that we may begin to walk the path of healing, free and light.

Then, on my way back, a second reflection came to me! 😁

These two videos I share with you here. May these words serve this moment.

Love, always πŸ™πŸ½πŸ’–

Ithaca

Mony Dojeiji

These past few days, I’ve been receiving signs around the word “Ithaca”. It comes as I finish up my latest book, a collection of my most personal writing. And, as often happens at this stage, I want it finished now. I want to share it all now. I want to reach my goal and put that check mark beside that list item.

But as this poem reminds me, it is not about arriving to Ithaca. It’s about the journey there. Spirit cares more about the growth that happens during the journey, and not necessarily the final goal, no matter how beautiful or meaningful that goal may be because it is the learning that we take with us, not the achievement. I had the same feeling when I arrived in Santiago, and in Jerusalem. Although I struggled during those walks, when I finally saw the Cathedral doors and ancient city walls before me… my steps slowed. I didn’t want the journey to end.

So it is with any “goal” that I set out to achieve. In this case, it is Spirit that has inspired this book. But Mony – with her plans and ideas – wants to get it done, to move it along according to her schedule and her needs. Ithaca comes to remind her to surrender to Spirit, to trust in Its wisdom, and to listen closely to Its whispers rather than the drumbeat demands of her mind.

This, in a small way, holds a bigger teaching around all that we see in our world, and the changes we so wish to make. In setting out for that promised Ithaca, we miss important stuff along the way:

The opportunities we’re offered to heal the raging storms of our hearts and minds;

To practice choosing unity over division, and love over fear.

This is the stuff of spiritual growth and maturity, the stuff that truly changes universes.

May all awaken to the journey that their Ithaca inspires. πŸ™πŸ½πŸ’•

Ithaka (by C. P. Cavafy)

As you set out for Ithaka

hope your road is a long one,

full of adventure, full of discovery.

Laistrygonians, Cyclops,

angry Poseidon—don’t be afraid of them:

you’ll never find things like that on your way

as long as you keep your thoughts raised high,

as long as a rare excitement

stirs your spirit and your body.

Laistrygonians, Cyclops,

wild Poseidon—you won’t encounter them

unless you bring them along inside your soul,

unless your soul sets them up in front of you.

Hope your road is a long one.

May there be many summer mornings when,

with what pleasure, what joy,

you enter harbors you’re seeing for the first time;

may you stop at Phoenician trading stations

to buy fine things,

mother of pearl and coral, amber and ebony,

sensual perfume of every kind—

as many sensual perfumes as you can;

and may you visit many Egyptian cities

to learn and go on learning from their scholars.

Keep Ithaka always in your mind.

Arriving there is what you’re destined for.

But don’t hurry the journey at all.

Better if it lasts for years,

so you’re old by the time you reach the island,

wealthy with all you’ve gained on the way,

not expecting Ithaka to make you rich.

Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey.

Without her you wouldn't have set out.

She has nothing left to give you now.

And if you find her poor, Ithaka won’t have fooled you.

Wise as you will have become, so full of experience,

you’ll have understood by then what these Ithakas mean.

FREE DOWNLOAD Walking for Peace - until 11/11/2020

Dear friends and pilgrims,

We know this is a time of introspection and inner journeying for many of us, a (forced) time of isolation where, in addition to our physical well-being, we are grappling with our mental, emotional and spiritual well-being, asking questions that perhaps we haven’t dared ask in a long time.

We have left our “normal world” behind, instinctively knowing that it is forever gone, and are on a journey with many unknowns, facing many fears and questioning the very meaning of all that we hold to be true and sacred. We may not know where we end up, but we know that we will be forever changed.

We are essentially on pilgrimage! Welcome...

This is inner terrain that Alberto and I have tread, wrestling with many of the existential questions that many of us are now facing. We did it during our pilgrimages on the Camino, and later walking from Rome to Jerusalem.

We offer you, during these times of many unknowns, our lived experiences walking through those questions, and the many lessons and revelations that resulted from them.

That’s what our book “Walking for Peace, an inner journey” is all about.

We are offering the e-book editions – in English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese – for free, as our gift and contribution to these evolving times.

Visit smashwords.com, search for the book you wish to download, and upon checkout enter code DS82X. For now, it expires November 11, 2020. All popular reader formats are supported.

May these books serve your inner journeys.

All our love, and buen camino!

UN-planning my Life

"Voyager", an Art of the Spirit original by Alberto Agraso
The greatest events of my life have unfolded with no planning on my part.

They’ve required my active participation, that’s for sure; but they’ve never been the consequence of any plans, goals, strategies, visualizations or even intentions.

There, I’ve said it! I’m an MBA who doesn’t strategize and plan. :-D

The most meaningful events in my life have happened because of the most difficult decision I’ve ever made:

Surrendering control. To Spirit.

This wasn’t an overnight process, and I was not a willing participant… at first.

I always had goals, personal and professional. It was how I lived my life. I moulded it to fit whatever ideas I had at the time of success and happiness.

All that changed with pilgrimage. The more I walked, the more I felt as if the entire Universe was screaming at me,

“Let go. Let me break down the hard lines in your thinking. Let me soften the black and white of your thoughts into greys that you can confidently traverse. Let me show you another way.”

My response was, “NO THANK YOU. I like my mind just the way it is!” LOL

But the experiences of that journey made me question every idea, every concept, even the very definition of what thought and mind are. Of who and what I am.

We all know that with enough focus and attention, the mind can achieve whatever goals it sets for itself. It’s a remarkable tool for that. But there’s a bigger question:

At whose service is this mind?

At the service of the whims of a self that always looks outwards for its satisfaction and sense of worth? Or,

At the service of the Highest Mind, the Mind of God?

This has been my journey these years after pilgrimage. To honour Spirit. Have it inspire thoughts that I alone cannot conceive. Open a heart often too fearful to walk in the unknown. Trust the inner light it’s growing in me to safely show me the way.

My mind still resists this process and insists on the futility of this venture: how will you live without plans, without goals? Where will your security come from? What about your child? At least think of her future! LOL

I’ve been bringing my mind to my heart. Giving it a seat at the table. And making it comfortable there.

A mind inspired by Love, at the service of Spirit, is invulnerable and a conduit for ideas that truly uplift the world.

How could they not?

This is a state of BEING that I cultivate. The breathing, the yoga, the walking, the meditation… they are the tools that keep me present. Aware. At peace. One.

Even as I write this, connections are happening that I never could have imagined. Ideas are bursting forth. New projects are coming my way.

Not by planning. But by UN-planning. And making room for Spirit to lead.

Step by step, my friends. Always further. Always higher.

Ultreia e suseia!

~Mony

This is Our Story

Each and every one of us, in certain moments of our lives, feels a call.

A call to change, to follow a dream or ideal; at times, even a call towards the unknown, driven by an emptiness that needs to be filled.

Like so many people, we were stuck in our jobs, doing things that paid our bills but didn’t feed our souls.

The golden handcuffs kept us like slaves, and we didn't even know we were enslaved.

We could only dream of being free, and doing what we truly loved.

But what if we took that step, and became explorers of this earth and saw it as a place of wonder, magic and infinite possibility?

And that the whole Universe had our back?

And that we are not merely the reflection staring back at us in the mirror,

but beings of wonder, magic and infinite possibility,

initiates on a journey of the Soul, here to experience, to explore, to awaken, to appreciate, to become whole.

This is our story.

Walking for Peace, an inner journey.

Remembering 9/11

Photo: Andrew Kelly, Reuters

Most of us can recall where we were or what we were doing on this fateful day.
I was in Lebanon, fresh off the Camino, visiting my family after my grandmother’s unexpected passing. I had just come back from a girls’ shopping spree in Beirut and was stepping into the house when my phone rang. My best friend was crying into the phone, trying to explain these attacks in New York, and how I needed to get back to Canada right away because they were closing airports and talking of bombing southern Lebanon.
I went numb and, as I sat watching the news reports, only felt the horror of that moment.
But that day galvanized me, and placed me firmly on the path of action:
I would walk to Jerusalem for peace, and dedicate my every step to peace. Peace within me. Peace in Jerusalem, and beyond.
I reflect on this day often, on how easy it would have been to fall deeper into fear and shut myself off from the world. I saw that same struggle on the faces of so many people.
But I also saw so much grace and dignity, so much love and compassion, so many people refusing to bow to fear and to carry on, choosing to light the way rather than close off into the darkness. If there was to be a gift from this day, that would be it for me.
May all be blessed on this – and every – day.

Easter and the Inner Mysteries

Mony at the "Cross", found on a path near my home
To our Christian friends around the world, today (Good Friday) marks perhaps the most sacred time of the year.

My thinking about this time of crucifixion and resurrection changed radically when I began to read the more mystical interpretations of the life of the Great Master known as Jesus.

The teachings of White Eagle resonated especially deeply with me. Those who read our book know that he "appeared" to Alberto and I at the end of our Rome-to-Jerusalem pilgrimage, to give meaning to the true inner journey we were walking:

We are eternal beings of Light, on a journey of unfolding ever more Light;

Our sole/soul journey is to BE ONE with that Light (which is God-Love), so that we may pour forth its plenitude into the world.

Jesus was the perfected instrument for this Great Light; and he blessed the world not only with his teachings, but with his presence and example of BEING this Light - of BEING Love - in every moment; and in so doing, demonstrated the ultimate power of this Light, which is to overcome "death".

This is truly a very sacred time, a reminder that though we may suffer (or feel crucified), within that too is the seed for re-birth and ever-greater manifestation of the Light.

I share with you this quote from the teachings of White Eagle, which I especially love at this time. The pictures is of me at the "cross" that I encountered during my walk this Easter week.

Blessings to all, πŸ™πŸ’–
~Mony

* * *
From White Eagle:

'We wish we could express in earthly words more of the inner significance of the life of the master Jesus.

So little is really understood of the inner meaning and the power of that incarnation of the Great White Light - we are speaking not just of Jesus the Nazarene, but the LIGHT which flooded his being and used his physical form.

This is the eternal Light in which you will learn to live in full consciousness; and Easter is the demonstration to all people of the inability of people to destroy God's life.

However much they try to destroy life, it just rises again like the phoenix.

There is no death, and life cannot be destroyed.

This is a most important truth for everyone to absorb into their consciousness.

We ask you to meditate on this; and as you meditate, to remember how you are linked on that higher level of consciousness with the eternal and infinite Light, the Son of God, the Sun."

Do you have to Suffer to be a Pilgrim?

One of the more fascinating conversations that come up during pilgrim gatherings is whether or not suffering is an integral part of #pilgrimage.

In this video, I share some reflections on suffering and how it differs from struggling.

You can also listen to the PODCAST of this (and all other episodes) HERE.

I hope you enjoy it. Please share freely, and give it a Like, if you so feel called.

Walking for Peace: featured on the DAILY GOOD platform!

Mony and Alberto in Venice, Italy
"I needed ten years to properly digest all that occurred during those thirteen months of walking. Although I was declaring over and again that peace begins within, only with time would I fully comprehend the power and profundity of those words.

I would come to understand that we are all on a journey of self-discovery and self-mastery. There are many who walk this path consciously, others still not.

My Walk for Peace began as an active response to a situation that I saw (9/11); but the true path I was walking in reality had little to do with peace in Jerusalem.

It was a path of initiation, a journey into the inner realms, one whose intention was to heal the wounds and divisions that I hosted there, so that the Light that is our essence may fully manifest and declare its presence in its rightful home: the heart.

The Jerusalem I was walking towards was always within me; a state of grace, perfection and peace that I know one day will be reflected in the Jerusalem that I see in my outer world."

Reflections on Mental Health

Today, with attention on mental health, I offer these words that came to me during my morning meditation. May they serve you in your personal journeys of love and expansion.

~Mony <3

====

"You come seeking clarity of mind, when in reality what is troubled is the heart.

Your beautiful mind will always seek to make sense of deep truths that the heart captures first, understands first; and that the mind tries to interpret and give meaning to.

My invitation to you is to drop your attention to your heart, and as you so do, imagine your mind coming along for the ride.
Imagine your thoughts, your ideas, your concepts – all that you believe about who you are – dropping into your heart. Let them rest there.

Now look to your body. Where do you feel sadness? Where do you feel anxiety, fear, not-isolation, loneliness? Place your attention there, and imagine them all moving to your heart.

Why? Because the Highest Intelligence resides in your heart: the answers to all your questions, the peace you long for, the shelter from your emotional and mental storms.

Let your heart be the refuge for all your pain and suffering.

Breathe. Deeply. Fully.

On the breath, we infuse life to sustain you, love to nourish you, light to heal you.

Let your exhale be the confirmation that you have received life, love, light.

Keep breathing into your heart. Keep imagining your thoughts and your sorrows flowing like a river into a pool of infinite, ever-expanding light within you.

In this pool of light that continues to expand with every breath, all is held. All is forgiven. All is made right. All is transformed into wisdom and understanding, which you will now take as nourishment for your life journey ahead.

With every breath, the light in your heart expands, taking in even more thoughts and feelings. It’s a super-highway conducting (attracting) the pain and less-than thinking unto itself, transforming it into wisdom, transforming it into more light. You can’t help but grow in light with every breath that you take.

Do this for yourself. Breathe your thoughts and feelings into your heart. Over and again.

Do this for another. Breathe the light for those who at this moment can’t do it for themselves. Imagine it growing inside their hearts in the same manner it has grown in yours. Imagine the super-highway of light conducting all the sorrows and less-than thoughts into this magnificent pool of light.

And while your mind still clamours for clarity, we say to you that the journey from mindfulness to heartfulness is the greatest journey you will ever undertake. Your mind, we repeat, can only interpret what the heart knows as truth. As you expand your heart, you expand your mind (it becomes more elastic) and are now able to receive universal truths…which your expanded mind can now interpret from a more expanded perspective. Water cannot flow through a closed tube.

May these words bring you peace. We hold you in the warmest of embraces.

Christmas Eve in Bethlehem

On this night many years ago, Alberto and I celebrated Christmas Eve in Bethlehem, ending a 13-month pilgrimage for peace.

Like the Wise Men, we too had journeyed from afar, following a six-sided star. It was one of the persistent signs that guided our journey. We naturally assumed it referred to the Star of David, confirming our pilgrimage to the Holy Land. But it was so much more!

We didn’t plan to arrive in Jerusalem or Bethlehem on Dec. 24. I see now that it was one of those seminal moments – like the many we had during our walk – where a greater Hand was orchestrating the events of our arrival so that we may understand the mystical meaning of this sacred day. We were led to the people and circumstances to be physically in Bethlehem and to participate in the outer celebrations, but to mark the inner significance of this birth in a completely unrelated manner.

In stillness. In silence. In simplicity.

In our hotel room, we each lit a candle and gave thanks to all the forces that had delivered us there safely. We offered our deep love and appreciation for the journey we had just completed and the many lessons yet to be revealed.

We bowed in reverence to the Light and the Love that was being born that night in the cave of our hearts.

We brought gifts as well, offering a heart that had been broken open and its darkest recesses filled with love. We brought a mind whose ideas and constructs has been torn down and rebuilt on a foundation of truth and higher thought. We offered feet and bodies that had walked in service to that Love, and that committed to do so over and again.

It is a Love that is eternal. A Light more brilliant than a thousand suns. It heals all. It beautifies all. It comforts all. It illuminates all.

It is the Divine essence of who we are, a universal consciousness of brotherhood, compassion and service. It is what is born again at this time, and what we delight in celebrating.

May this Light shine ever so brilliantly in your lives, always. <3

Making Peace - the way of Ho'oponopono

For those of us on the path of unfolding Spirit, it may at times feel as if the world of Spirit and the world we witness are indeed worlds apart. The divide appears to be expanding, with few means of bridging or reconciling that separation.

How can we live in the world, and love it?

In this talk at Unity Spiritual Centre Ottawa, I share some thoughts on how to do just that.

It all begins within.

Pilgrim Story Hour w/ Mony Dojeiji - Walking Alone, a spiritual practice

Our life is a pilgrimage, with only one sacred destination: an encounter with our true selves. On that journey, we must learn to walk alone so that we may stand in confidence of the world, rather than in fear of it.

I gave this talk at Unity Spiritual Centre Ottawa. I hope you enjoy my reflections and stories.

Buen Camino!

A Pilgrim Blessing on the Feast Day of Santiago

To all those named Santi, Santiago, Jacobo,Jacques, Jacob, Yakov and more... and to #pilgrims who walk the #Camino... Feliz Dia de Santiago!

In honour of this day, July 25, I share with you all a blessing from the Camino, that I wrote in my book "Walking Alone".

Buen Camino!
~Mony
========

Step lightly and with reverence, for you walk on paths forged by sacrifice, devotion and love. You are not merely stepping onto sacred ground, but into what is sacred within you. Treat both delicately.

Taste of my abundance. Dwell in my magic places. Drink of my beauty. They are all freely shared, and reside within you too.

Leave your sorrows and travails with me, so that the flames of my sword may unleash their hidden light. But don’t forget to also leave me your joys and triumphs, for they are my nourishment too.

The sacred in you resides in me also. That is because we are created by the same hand. No separation exists between us. My imprint on your heart is as binding as your imprint on mine.

I am the worker of miracles. I lead you to the most unexpected places, places that feel both familiar and unrecognizable. I lead you to the greatest treasure, the one that you were carrying with you all along.

Announcing..."Walking Alone: A Pilgrim's Guide to the Inner Journey" book

In the many presentations I’ve done over the years, one of the consistent themes that arises is how to walk alone.

Not only on pilgrimage, but in life.

What I have learned is that key to walking alone is having the courage to look beyond the physical, and to delve into the workings of our inner world – mind, emotions, spirit – so that we can better understand ourselves, and walk in confidence and curiosity of the world rather than in fear of it.

In this personal guide, I offer you insights and reflections based on my personal experiences of having walked alone (as a pilgrim on the path and in life), and how you can begin that journey towards self-knowing that only you can tread, starting now.

"Walking Alone" is available as an e-book and paperback, in the Amazon of your country.

I will also offer workshops in the new year, in person and online. Stay tuned! :-)

May this book serve you in your personal journeys, wherever they may lead you.

~Mony
