Peace - a channeling

"Under the Storm" by Alberto Agraso

May these words from my meditation bring you peace: 🙏🏽

"The louder the world becomes, the more powerful becomes the call for stillness.

It is in stillness where the raging storms calm; and where peace can finally inundate heart and mind.

Peace.

That is truly what we seek now.

We look out onto the world, a world of distraction and separation, expecting it to offer solutions to our inner conflicts, inner divisions, inner torments, inner terrors;

But peace is not there. And never shall be.

Peace lies beyond… beyond all concepts that we hold of peace, beyond all ideas of who and what we are, beyond all definitions of self and existence.

It calls to you now. Heed its call.

The breath is your way-shower.

Breathe deeply now…and release.

Breathe again…and feel your heart.

This is where Peace resides. Feel Its presence, Its power, Its infinitude.

This is what you are. What I am. What each and every one is.

Rest here. And breathe.

Allow it to enfold you. Feel It expanding within your heart. Feel Its warmth. Feel Its embrace. Here, you are safe. Always.

Surrender all to It: your every fear, every worry, every bit of unknowing.

It wants to take them, and give you Peace.

Accept this sacred gift.

Embrace the Love that offers it to you.

It is, in truth, what you are and ever shall be.

In that eternal embrace of Oneness you remain; a light unto the world, an ocean of calm in a stormy world of illusions."

This illustration is by Alberto Agraso, one of the 31 illustrations he has created for this year's #inktoberchallenge. It perfectly captures the stillness amidst the storms.

A Meditation for the Mind

As talk of mental health swirls around these days, I offer a meditation that I hope serves you in your journeys towards wholeness of mind, body, heart and spirit.

I shared it last year, but have slightly modified it. If there’s interest, I’ll record it and share it, but I encourage you to record it for yourself...for your personal use, of course. 😊

With love, 🙏💞
Mony

"You come seeking clarity of mind, when in reality what is troubled is the heart.

Your beautiful mind will always seek to make sense of deep truths. And well it should. But know this:

Truth is captured in the heart first. Understood in the heart first.

Your mind then begins to interpret and give meaning to this Truth.

My invitation to you now is to drop your attention to your heart.

As you so do, imagine your mind coming along for the ride.

Imagine your thoughts, your ideas, your concepts – all that you believe about who you are – dropping into your heart. Let them rest there.

Now look to your body. Where do you feel sadness? Where do you feel anxiety, fear, worry, loneliness? Place your attention there. Imagine them all moving to your heart.

Why? Because the Highest Intelligence resides in your heart; the answers to all your questions, the peace you long for, the shelter from your emotional and mental storms… all are to be found in your heart.

Let your heart be the refuge for all your pain and suffering.

Breathe. Deeply. Fully.

On the breath, we infuse life to sustain you, love to nourish you, light to heal you.

Let your exhale be the confirmation that you have received life, love, light.

Keep breathing into your heart. Keep imagining your thoughts and your sorrows flowing like a river into a pool of infinite, ever-expanding light within you.

In this pool of light that continues to expand with every breath, all is held. All is forgiven. All is made right. All is transformed into wisdom and understanding, which you will now take as nourishment for your life journey ahead.

With every breath, the light in your heart expands, taking in even more thoughts and feelings. It’s a super-highway conducting (attracting, calling) the pain and less-than thinking unto itself, transforming it into wisdom, transforming it into more light. You can’t help but grow in light with every breath that you take.

Do this for yourself. Breathe your thoughts and feelings into your heart. Over and again.

Do this for another. Breathe the light for those who at this moment can’t do it for themselves. Imagine it growing inside their hearts in the same manner it has grown in yours. Imagine the super-highway of light conducting all the sorrows and less-than thoughts into this magnificent pool of light.

And while your mind still clamours for clarity, we say to you that the journey from mind-fulness to heart-fulness is the greatest journey you will ever undertake.

Your mind, we repeat, can only interpret what the heart knows as truth.

As you expand your heart, you attune to Higher Truth and capture it in your heart.

As your heart expands and settles into this delicious feeling of Being, Love naturally expands to your mind.

Your mind softens. All un-truth dissolve in the presence of Love.
In this softened, pliable state, your mind is now able to interpret the heart’s knowing.

In this exalted state, your mind remains:

A servant of the heart. a beloved collaborator in your soul’s journey into ever-greater states of expansion, leading you to the only Home and only Truth:

God Love.

May these words bring you peace. We hold you in the warmest of embraces.”

U.N. International Day of Peace Declaration - why reading it matters

UN International Day of Peace - September 21
There is great power in ritual. In pausing for a moment to reflect on who we are, and why we are participating in any act or thought.

The reading of the U.N. Secretary General's Day of Peace Proclamation has been taking place at Parliament Hill for the last 13 years. Led by peace elder Bill Bhaneja, the words are spoken so that we may all reflect on what it means for each of us to BE peace in that moment, and to rededicate our efforts to expanding that peace in our lives, communities and world.

It also helps us all see we are not alone in that task, as the task may seem quite lonely at times.

If you're in Ottawa on Sat. September 21 at 11:45 a.m., I will be there - among many others - at the Centennial Flame to participate in the reading, and be an active part of the field of love and peace that I know is created when all gather with intention.

Wherever you are that Day of Peace, I hope you will pause and take a moment to breathe in the peace I know we all, in our hearts, desire; and allow all that is not peace to be taken away on the breath.

Love is always present, if we but allow it to unfold.

Blessings, 🙏💞

Whole: a meditation

From my morning meditation: 💝🙏

You are not separate parts to be managed, but WHOLE HUMAN BEINGS who have been led to believe you are separate parts that need to be managed…

...In the same way that you believe that the body of humanity is somehow made up of separate beings/parts

...When in truth, you are all One.

Connected.

One human family. One human body.

Perfect. Whole. Complete.

It is time to re-member. Bring the pieces (members) together once again.

Become whole.

Love your impetuous heart, for it is the part of you crying for freedom.

Love your sadness, for it is the part of you longing to be held and assured.

Love your moments of darkness, for they are the cry of a soul in desperate need of light, brilliance, warmth, love.

Love your every idea that you are somehow less than – and know that you are so much more than you can ever imagine:

A child perfect.

A light divine.

More loved and treasured than you can ever conceive.

A being eternal, for all time.

Let your heart absorb this truth as the nourishment you truly need. Let its nutrients feed the growth of all that is beautiful in you, all that is sacred, all that is holy.

All that is whole.

Rise: a meditation

From my meditation today... 🙏💝

Rise to your purpose.

Rise to the knowing of the fullness and grandeur of who you are.

Rise to your consciousness.

Rise to your connection with the Source of All, the Home from whence you came.

Rise to the power of the Love that created you, and that now engulfs you.

Rise to the Glory and Grace of your existence.

Rise, and take your place among the brothers and sisters of Light.

Rise to the fire, ardent within you: bold, courageous, fearless, loving.

Rise to Love.

Unabashed.

Unreserved.

Rise.

Reflections on Mental Health

Today, with attention on mental health, I offer these words that came to me during my morning meditation. May they serve you in your personal journeys of love and expansion.

~Mony <3

Why? Because the Highest Intelligence resides in your heart: the answers to all your questions, the peace you long for, the shelter from your emotional and mental storms.

Water cannot flow through a closed tube.

May these words bring you peace. We hold you in the warmest of embraces.

"State of Union" - a channeling

I recently watched a documentary about Israel-Palestine that got me thinking about the inner state of that Promised Land.

Is that land still divided within? What will create peace and harmony within?

The state of union moves ever closer and, as it does, unleashes the fury of the resistance, long-entrenched, believing it is its right to be there at all costs.

Resistance comes from deep fear, for in the moment these elements (meaning, the fears) stop resisting, there is the possibility that they might stop existing. That (resistance) is what currently defines their (meaning the fears, the anger) existence.

In your own heart must there be a place for the resistors, for their existence is at stake.

The Love in the heart, the strength of the Light, must be strong enough to assuage the resistors.

They held sway over the entire heart at one time and are reluctant to let that territory go.

They are uncomfortable in the Light because they don’t know what it’s going to do to them.

Rather than obliterate them into non-existence, resistors must be made to see their role in the Light, and AS the Light.

Filled with that Light, an energy of entitlement shifts to one of co-existence.

The energy hasn’t disappeared. It has merely been allowed to see the other end of its energetic spectrum, to see the positive of itself, of that quality that it carries.

Fear of disappearance, fear of no longer existing, fear of a dream dying…those are the energies that also need to be transmuted to the other end of their spectrum.

Fear of a dream dying may become the beauty and excitement of a new dream envisioned today, not driven by ideas of the past but by possibilities of the future.

Look within for a moment and stop thinking about the Israelis and Palestinians. What is occurring at the moment on a macro scale has some root and meaning in a micro scale with you.

Ask yourself: what are you defending without second thought? What benefit is there to remaining divided?

...Control is certainly easier. With it, there is perhaps guaranteed outcomes. There’s no need to grow or expand. You’re entrenched in what you know, thinking it’s enough. Rigidity sets in. Inflexibility. You justify the occupation of the heart in so many ways.

But then love arises.

What swings to one extreme naturally swings to another until harmony is found.

Love and harmony must fill the land.

They must be strong enough to withstand the acid attacks of the deepest fears manifesting as righteousness.

That work only you can do.

Strengthening the land, inundating the terrain with Light and entrenching it there, IS YOUR work.

And then, on its own, fear will come into its harmony.

It cannot withstand the magnetic pull of the energy of Love radiating itself in the heart.

Fear will find its Light despite itself. It will see its Divinity.

And you will know peace.

Awaken, dear hearts...

Look at these beautiful words from my meditation:

"Awaken, dear hearts.

Spirit knows the way.

She arises, lighting the way, her brilliance impossible to contain.

She speaks the language of love.

Whispering into longing echoes of the soul.

She denies nothing, and embraces everything.

She is the awakener, and the awakened.

She is your guide, your way-shower.

She thrills and delights you.

Your passion is her mark.

She roams the hallways of your soul.

Unstoppable.

Brilliant.

Opening every door.

Let her through."

“I will believe the truth about myself no matter how beautiful it is"

"I believe in my power
to transform indifference into love.

I believe I have an amazing gift
to keep hope alive in the face of despair.

I believe I have the remarkable skill
of deleting bitterness from my life.

I believe in my budding potential
to live with a nonviolent heart.

I believe in my passion to speak the truth
even when it isn’t popular.

I believe I have the strength of will
to be peace in a world of violence.

I believe in my miraculous capacity
for unconditional love.

I will believe the truth about myself
no matter how beautiful it is.”

A Mony Moment..."Consciousness of Reassurance"

From the depths of the well of love, a stream of consciousness flows. A stream lit by the light of the heart.

This consciousness stream has no beginning or end. It is a flow that began at the beginning of time, and that will continue beyond all time and space.
It is what creates the ripples for change to occur. It is the beginning and the end.

Consciousness must be in motion, be it expansion or contraction, but it is an energy that is fluid, continually seeking expression from its heights into all the levels and planes of existence.

Each plane is given what it can handle and what it needs in its moment of evolution.
At this time, this earth plane is in need of the energy or consciousness of reassurance.

That can only come when there is the knowledge that only love exists, that there is no death despite the physical body’s deterioration, that all serves the individual soul, brotherhood and universal growth... That all is interconnected and woven as a beautiful net of knowledge that feeds the All.
Reconciliation is what is required, but first within the heart of each man and woman.

Within the heart, we repeat, is where true reconciliation must take place before its effects can be witnessed in the outer realities.

If we can but encourage one thing at this moment, it is reconciliation of fears that have taunted you, doubts that have haunted you, any and all thoughts that have kept you small and far from your own magnificence…these are the attributes that need to make their home in your heart, in a heart that is not only their safe haven, but that is also the fertile ground for more love to grow.
And so, make peace with the enemy within.

Make peace with the tyrant and bully within.

Find a place in your heart to embrace the shadow part of yourself that runs wild and that desperately craves your attention and love.

All of these now are critical as humanity makes tremendous leaps forward in its personal and universal growth.

One cannot grow without the other in this web of inter-connectedness.

Have heart.

Have the courage to embrace all that you perceive as dark within you, all that is considered the shadow aspect of you.

There is nowhere to go, but inwards.

Keep your eyes inner focused, for the greatest treasure is awaiting revelation, awaiting the fruits of your grand and courageous labour to bring the shadows home.

Receive our blessings, and our love.

A Mony Moment..."Don't ever stop reaching"

At the highest vibration, words fail. That is because of course there are no words, there is only presence, vibration, sound, OM…..

As the vibration descends into the physical realms, it shifts and moulds itself to the receiver of this vibration. This vibration lodges itself in the heart, and uses the mind to give itself expression.

What Love conceives is grace, a blessing to each, flowing all over you.

Picture for a moment a child reaching for a ball that is just out of reach. No matter how she tries, she cannot grasp that toy. Imagine the frustration of being so close to attaining what you desire, but find it so frustratingly out of reach. It is right there, simply untouchable.

And so it is with those oftentimes who struggle to touch the Divine, to grasp what is often ungraspable and so, failing in the attempt, give up on the toy, frustrated by the effort, and search for something easier to grasp.

But we say to you that as you grow, as you reach, as you flex, as you try… that effort alone brings the ball closer to you. Your efforts shift your vibration and bring Divinity, the state of grace, to you. You draw it to you by your reaching, by your effort.

And so, do not ever stop reaching, trying to grasp what seems impossible to reach. That effort will bring its reward.

A Mony Moment... "Love Resident"

...And what is this wisdom that is behind all the great teachings of today?

It has inspired poets, scientists, your medical people, your philosophers.

It is expressed in words, formulas, compositions, all of which demonstrate its face.

In the ancient teachings, it was understood that Love was at the heart of all creation, all existence.

Until man could be made to see that he was loved exactly as he was, and that Love was moving the Universe in which he lived, there was no progress.

That simple teaching, the foundation of which changes everything, was the ultimate teaching.

Jesus demonstrated it, and lived it.

Great wisdom is often so simple.

The mind seeks explanations ad-infinitum, but true wisdom touches the wings of the heart, of the soul. The mind then tries to reason the feeling, that instant of pure knowing that happens when the infinite touches the finite, if only for an instant.

The grandest truth, the most ancient of knowing and of wisdom, is that you are Loved.

You are created by Love, and Love inhabits every corner of this vast Universe.

It is what rules your life, if you allow it, if you bend to it.

It is what delights and heals you.

If you could but reside in that state, in that vibration, in every instance, with every breath, you would find your life forever shifted.

With love resident, you write the greatest story – the story of your life.

"We didn't come here to keep this beautiful energy [of creativity] to ourselves." ~Mony

It's not very often that I get to speak about creativity and how it manifests in my life as a writer, so my thanks goes to Elizabeth Johnston from "Own your Creativity" for giving me the opportunity to do so on her podcast.

Enjoy!

Meditating

Last night, Alberto and I watched a great movie called "Un Buda". It's an Argentinian production following the lives of two brothers - one who is a skeptic and very much in his mind, the other a deeply spiritual young man. In a way, it describes the search of each one to find peace. We had seen it before, but felt inspired to watch it again after tuning in to an Oprah show where she visited Fairfield, Iowa, a town whose inhabitants practice Transcendental Meditation without fail every day, twice a day. It is not a commune or a cult. The people living there are not hippies. They are "ordinary" people whose lives, and those of their children, revolve around maintaining a connection with the Divine and bringing that into their everyday worlds. I especially loved the school, and how they were integrating meditation, yoga and the inner focus into the curriculum and into the lives of these children - from the youngest classes, to the oldest.

I was fascinated. I was enthralled. If Oprah is reporting on it, then the shift in consciousness we all keep talking about must be well under way!

So, of course, both Alberto and I redoubled our commitment to meditate a little each day. I had gotten back into the habit of doing yoga in the morning - nothing heavy, just 20 minutes, but enough to give my body a good stretch and start my day feeling more centered. I stayed in the silence a little longer this morning, feeling a wonderful emptiness within. There is no other way to describe it - it was as if my insides were hollow, waiting to be filled, as an empty vessel. I was swaying slightly, and feeling, well... nothing. There was no extreme of any emotion, simply a calm and a peace.

Then the following words: "The only difference between to live and to love is in the I".

That actually brought a smile to my face.  And slowly, I came out of the meditation. I don't think I stayed the full twenty minutes, but that's OK. It was still a great way to start the day.

Wishing you all a blessed day!

Energies

At times finding the words to express what is happening on the inner planes is not only difficult but takes time.  I need to reflect on the experience, try to give it some meaning, integrate its lesson into my ever-expanding concept of myself.  Energies too need words, and words themselves carry energies, and it is to this process that I have been especially dedicated in these last weeks.
So what energies in me are trying to be expressed at this moment? They mostly have to do with authenticity, truth, moving into a place of knowing, to a place of alignment with the highest aspect of myself; that place where my highest wisdom—wisdom garnered through experiences in lifetime after lifetime—resides, in the throne of the highest self.
What is this highest self to which I refer?  It is the me that exists beyond body and form, beyond space and time as we know it; the part of me that is eternal and that knows its essence to be Divinity, to be an aspect of God in expression.  Some have called this the Higher Self, the inner Master, the Perfected Self, the Christ within, or the Christ Consciousness that dwells within man and of which man is made, but cloaked in physical form.
I’m trying to hear that Self, to know It, to communicate with it…that´s all!
This process has, of course, moved me into interesting territory.  I’m not one who sits and meditates often.  I prefer to go for a walk or perhaps practice yoga, which to me are also forms of connecting with that Higher aspect of myself.  But lately, I have found myself sitting in stillness, usually in the evening after Sylvana has gone to bed, and trying to make that connection.  I’m trying to clear my mind of preconceived notions of what that connection may feel like.  I do feel a tingling in my fingertips, a warmth that emanates from the heart centre and outwards. I feel relaxed but attentive. I know then that I’m connecting.  More and more, I receive thoughts and insights that I could never remember after my meditation, but that now I write down as they come to me.  Perhaps I’ll share some of these with you in later entries.
In my most recent meditations, I have entered a state of stillness that I have never encountered before, a stillness of thoughts, of emotions, of being.  I felt detached, but not uncaring. On the contrary, there was a certainty and a knowing that all was well.  No thoughts entered. No feelings of fatigue or boredom, just a complete presence in the moment, a moment that lasted a long while. And in that moment, everything was perfect.
What I understood then was that this was the state of being I wanted to bring into the world—this connection in every moment with that Higher or Christ aspect of me, and this energy of assuredness and calm that it engendered. That is the energy that heals.  That is the energy that creates.  And that is the energy that wished to express itself in these days.
Connecting with that inner Master (mastery) and sharing that with the world (service) are what ultimately define my inner journey.

Death of bin Laden

With so many world events going on right now, it’s easy to forget that bin Laden was killed a short two weeks ago.  I don’t wish to dwell on the details of his life or death because there’s so much information about that.  But I do want to spend some time speaking about something which always intrigued me, and that was his call to Jihad, or Holy War.
As an interesting side note, just before I heard about his death, I was reading Deepak Chopra’s novel “Muhammad”.  Although it was fiction, much of the information was based on truth, and I found it to be an interesting insight into the Prophet’s life and the message he was trying to convey.  So I had the ideas of Islam top of mind at the time.
As most of you know, I am Lebanese and have some basic grasp of the language – beyond ordering hummus and tabbouli.  I began to look for the root of the word Jihad, to understand where it came from, and learned that it comes from the word “Jhd” which means to strive, to struggle, to put forth one’s best effort.
To me, that intuitively signaled an inner effort; and I wondered if Jihad was meant to be an inner struggle after all.  I’m sure some of my Muslim friends reading this will say that I’m oversimplifying the concept, and will point to texts to support the going to war; but like all holy books, you can always find the parts that most support your point of view.
In the end, I guess it all depends on the eyes through which we choose to see the world.
And if I choose to see the world as a magnificent manifestation of LOVE, even with what appears to be evil or ugly, and that all is happening to bring us closer to that Love, then I will also find texts to support that point of view.
I’ve been on an inner Jihad for a while now, although had never called it by that name. I called it personal growth, confronting my fears, raising my consciousness – but in the end, we’re all talking about the same thing.  Changing within so that we can change what is without.
One man saw the world as a place of evil and injustice, acted in consequence, and called that a holy war.  He’s not the first.  How many of us see the world in a similar way?  We may not act in the same manner, but how many small concessions to fear do we make every day?  How often do we justify certain behaviours simply because “that’s just how the world is”?
In one of my recent meditations on Jihad, some words came into my mind which I wrote down so I wouldn’t forget.  They’re more inspiration than reflection.  I hope you enjoy them.  With them, I close off this entry.
Arm yourself with courage, with faith and certitude, and direct them towards your inner tyrants, your inner dictator.  Declare jihad on the ignorance within you. Declare holy war on the abuser within you.  Raze them to the ground, for after their destruction, they need to be fed with what is truly holy, the only force that can rebuild the holy in you - LOVE.
God’s Love. God’s Mercy. Allah.
Allah is great for the love He births inside the heart of each of His children. And that love can only flourish when the inner battle has been won. Your heart is grand enough to accept such a love, and Allah only seeks to manifest His greatness, His love, through that heart.  Open it and embrace your Divine birthright.  Open it and be free.

Welcome!

In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in mid-April 2011, I woke up with a start, a fading image of a dream clearly imprinted in my mind.  I was looking at the palm of my left hand.  Tattooed on it was a six-sided star inside of which sat a Buddha in lotus position, naked from the waist up, eyes closed, a faint smile crossing his lips.  Around the star are inscribed the words: “LEAVE THE MOUNTAIN NOW”.

For days, the words and image haunted me.  They were clearly a message, but what were they telling me?  I meditated upon them, and came to understand that more than a directive, this was an invitation to take a step that perhaps I have been reluctant to take.

I am, by nature, a private person although to others I appear gregarious and extroverted. I tend to reserve my opinions, not wanting to offend; or perhaps more truthfully, not daring to stand out and express what I truly believe.

On the mountain, I’m safe.  No one can judge my ideas.  I have journals filled with reflections on the goings-on of my everyday life, insights into how to resolve difficult situations and what their higher meaning may be – because ultimately I believe all these experiences do serve a higher purpose, and, for me, that purpose is for the Soul to heal, to use the Universal energy of Love to finally integrate, rather than reject, all those emotional and mental fragments of its Self that no longer serve its growth.  As those fragments are transformed into light, room is created for even more Light, more of what is uniquely Divine in each one of us, to shine through.

In that sense, we are all on the same journey, a journey towards Mastery of the Self and its dramas, so that the Soul may manifest in all of its brilliance.

Almost ten years ago, on the heels of 9/11, I embarked on a 5000-kilometre Walk for Peace, following the Way of the Soul to Jerusalem, proclaiming that to change the world, we had to first change ourselves; that to have peace, we had to be peace, and then act in consequence.  That journey didn’t end in Jerusalem. I still find nuances in its myriad lessons. The most uncomfortable part of the journey was, and still is, sharing my spiritual beliefs.  They too have evolved with time and moved into territory I still struggle to speak about outside the confines of my close circle of friends who, not surprisingly, share those views.

But we must all eventually leave the mountain. And if not now, when? I’ll never feel prepared enough, wise enough, confident enough, or even worthy enough. I’m battling (and trying to love!) the same demons that have always walked alongside me.  We each have a unique gift to offer the world, and hiding it serves no one, least of all the Soul.  Mine is to speak simply and with authenticity, so that my words awaken a spark in the heart of the reader, and not merely in the mind.

So here goes.  In this blog, I will share with you my reflections and experiences in the everyday, how I see the world and interpret all that happens in it.  The blog will continue to evolve, as I will, and so I welcome your thoughts and feedback, and will try to incorporate as many of them into my entries as possible.

It is most fitting, not to mention ironic, that I launch this blog on the heels of the announcement of the death of Osama bin Laden, just as his attacks on 9/11 launched my Walk for Peace.  Clearly this is a most significant event, one whose implications I am still digesting along with the rest of you.  I will be sure to share my reflections soon and hope that you will do the same.

With love and light,
Mony
